Meet Breeze! A beautiful, exceptionally stocky registered Canadian mare with a lovely foundation, a willing personality and lots of potential for the right person.
Breeze has a strong foundation under saddle with 60 days of professional reining based training in the fall of 2022, another 30 day refresher in the spring of 2024. After approximately 2.5 years off (no fault of her own), Breeze is currently priced to reflect that she is a project horse and is in need of a refresher as a riding horse.
Breeze has had her first ride in the arena as of the end of October 2026, and is currently in the very early stages of her restart. She is being ridden bareback due to her exceptionally wide build and the current lack of a properly fitting western saddle. Breeze is progressing well and showing that she remembers much of her previous training. She had a lot of time off, and is still getting back into the routine and building consistency.
Breeze is best suited to a confident and experienced intermediate to advanced rider who is skilled and comfortable bringing a horse back into regular work. She is not in any way being represented as a finished riding horse. She is currently being sold as a well bred project horse in need of a refresher and additional training to reach her full potential.
Breeze is a very sensitive mare who can be a little nervous and looky at times, so a confident rider with a balanced seat and quiet hands is important. She has good ground manners and a solid foundation to build on. After a refresher, Breeze will benefit from continued consistent work to help maintain her body condition and training level.
Like many Canadians, Breeze is a very easy keeper! She is still carrying some excess weight and will need an owner who understands the breed and is comfortable managing her diet and body condition. Her feet are also still recovering from some minor flaring and toe cracks which developed during her time off. Breeze is back on a regular barefoot trimming schedule now, with tight and healthy new growth currently about half way down. Breeze has never foundered to our knowledge, however a home with low-sugar hay and ideally a dry lot or track system would be given priority.
Breeze is a proven broodmare who produced two lovely foals – Kitcat Kyng Island-Breeze in 2021 and Kitcat Kyng Jett in 2022. She unfortunately lost her last pregnancy at around 10 months of gestation in February 2024, but was fully cleared by a veterinarian and no concerns about her breeding soundness were identified at that time. Breeze was never re-bred as we discontinued our breeding program and began downsizing our herd in 2024. While Breeze is a proven broodmare and could potentially produce additional foals, she will not be sold to a breeding-only home.
Breeze is genetically tested PSSM1 negative, and colour tested as black -a/a, E/e, nd2/nd2. Breeze has some scars on one hind leg which she had before we got her in 2019. The scars are cosmetic only, and have never had an impact on her soundness. Basic or advanced PPE’s are welcome at buyers expense. Buyer is fully responsible for any/all PPE costs including but not limited to: farm call or transport to vet clinic, x-rays or ultrasounds, repo/breeding soundness exam, coggins, export paperwork, etc.
Breeze is looking for an experienced, knowledgeable home where she can continue building confidence, enjoy a consistent routine and become someone’s special partner. If you think she might be a good fit, I’d love to hear about you, your riding experience, and the home you can offer her. Additional photos and videos will be added as they become available.
We are currently asking $9,500 CAD + 5% GST, reflecting Breeze’s current body/hoof condition as of November 1st, and that she is currently in the very early stage of her restart as a riding horse.
*** This is a limited time opportunity to get a good looking, well bred, 12 year old proven broodmare for a huge discount if you are willing and able to finish her body & hoof rehab and training refresher yourself. We are located in Southern Alberta, Canada (near Lethbridge). Her price will increase as her hooves continue to grow out, and she receives additional riding time over the coming months.*** For more information on Breeze, please contact Katherine at kitcatcanadians@hotmail.com
